One seed of generosity
AESARA and the AESARA Foundation are founded to do exceptional work so they can do good. The first gifts go to five causes our team chose, from Syria crisis relief to giraffe conservation.

Ten years ago, AESARA set out to do exceptional work so it could do good. Every trip, gift, and partnership since has traveled farther than we could see at the time. This page follows a few of them to where they landed.

AESARA and the AESARA Foundation are founded to do exceptional work so they can do good. The first gifts go to five causes our team chose, from Syria crisis relief to giraffe conservation.

After Irma and Maria, the Foundation commits to Loíza, Puerto Rico, alongside Mayor Julia Nazario and the Silicon Valley Foundation.

With Brother's Brother Foundation, we deliver $325,000 in equipment and supplies to Loíza's urgent care center.

A Burlingame, California, congregation funds a children's room in Loíza's emergency shelter, and the Robert Pack Foundation helps lead a New Orleans fundraiser.

When COVID-19 threatens Provence, a restaurant in our hometown of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, we raise emergency relief and match every dollar.

Following the 7.2-magnitude earthquake, we raise funds with MedShare, our partner delivering medical supplies on the ground.

AESARIANs organize by region to volunteer at shelters and food pantries, while fundraising for Loíza continues.

We help the Shevchenko family, displaced by the war in Ukraine with 10 adopted and foster children, buy a home.

Hurricanes Helene and Milton strike Florida and North Carolina, including AESARA team members. The Foundation matches 100 percent of gifts toward a $20,000 goal.

Forty-two AESARIANs return for a service day on Loíza's beaches. The same year, we sponsor search-and-rescue dog training in North Carolina.

Every AESARIAN directs $500 to a cause of their choosing. By summer, a rescue dog we helped train and a volunteer from our first Loíza trip are deployed in Venezuela.

Every project, partner, and total from our first decade lives on the Impact page.

AESARA’s people know healthcare, so we aimed there: raise Loíza’s urgent care center to emergency-care level, so the town could care for itself in the next disaster. Our grant applications brought in Brother’s Brother Foundation and Dr. John Mellors, who delivered $325,000 in equipment and supplies—13,000 pounds of it.

A congregation in Burlingame, California, funded a children’s room in Loíza’s first-ever emergency shelter. Windmar Home donated the solar panels and batteries to power it. The Ricky Martin Foundation helped rebuild some of the town’s most damaged homes.

Some of our most meaningful outcomes can’t be counted in dollars raised or hours volunteered. They live in the people inspired to serve, the partners who joined us, and the gifts that grew into something larger.
